So, last weekend my parents were going to come to Milwaukee, so my mom could come to my bridal shower and my dad could go to the Brewers game with Paul and his dad. They called on Thursday and said they needed to come to Chicago first. Why? Because they had a wedding present for us that wouldn't fit in our car, so they had to bring it to our place themselves.
Interesting … we came up with all sorts of ideas about what it could be but ultimately had no clue. We went to my co-worker's wedding on Saturday and then met my parents back at our apartment to find -- a 42" flat-screen HD TV! Totally awesome (and unbelievable!). After we took them to dinner, we spent the rest of the night watching Lost and Die Hard with a Vengeance. It's so fun, and as my dad said, we never would have bought one ourselves, so we're really excited about it!
Anyhow, the shower was Sunday, and it was really fun. Got to see two of my bridesmaids, my mom got to meet everyone, and my dad got to hang out with Paul and his dad and uncle at the Brewers game. Good times. LOTS of presents, too -- we had a carful on the way home and have been slowly unpacking things all week. And that was from just 11 people! I can't even imagine what the wedding presents will be like …
We're heading up to Milwaukee again tonight, Paul is golfing with his Dad and best man tomorrow morning, then we're headed to Simmi and Mike's for their save the date party. We haven't seen their house yet, so it'll be fun! Sunday we're (thankfully) in Chicago with no plans.
Next weekend we're in Milwaukee again for Paul's bachelor party on Saturday night (his mom and I are doing something non-bachelor-related, like dinner and a movie or something).
Then the next weekend is the wedding. Eek! I feel like we have so much to do before then, but really, we don't. Just small things. Nonetheless, my co-worker's wedding was always the "far far away" event that I was using as a reference point - and now that's over, and she's almost back from her honeymoon! Unbelievable.
